Hampton Drake & Hayley Carter were honored as USTA/South Carolina award winners this month. Hampton received the Boys Player of the Year Award while Hayley was honored with the Wilton McKinney Award.

The annual awards given by USTA South Carolina are intended to recognize individuals who made outstanding contributions to tennis. Award winners are chosen based on their accomplishments during the year and are recognized during the USTA SC Annual Meeting presented by the City of Aiken, which was held December 7-10.

Hampton Drake has compiled a 105-34 career record and is ranked #1 in South Carolina, #3 in the Southern Section, and #25 Nationally. His achievements include a 14-5 record at USTA National Championships and winning the title at the Southern Section Designated 18 and Under Tournament this year. Since coming to the academy Hampton has displayed poise and a great determination to improve his game. He has moved up from  the #114 rated junior recruit on Tennis Recruiting to a career high of #30.

Hayley Carter is one of the top junior players in the country, and has demonstrated exemplary skills and sportsmanship since she started playing tennis at age six. Carter holds a record 14 titles at the South Carolina State Closed Qualifying Tournament and has won numerous National Championships throughout her young career.
Carter has had an outstanding junior career and those who know her say that her passion for competition is only matched by her sense of fair play and love of the game. Carter is no slouch off the court either, and will play on a tennis scholarship at the University of North Carolina in 2013.
Congratulations to Hampton & Hayley for being honored for their fine play and displays of sportsmanship!
