- Smith Stearns Students Shine at USTA Regional

Smith Stearns students posted excellent results at the USTA Regional Segments (National Level 3) that were held all across the nation from July 6-8. Many of our students played extremely well and placed in their respective age divisions.
 
 
 
 
Mariana Gould made the finals of the girls 18’s Southern Open in Birmingham, Alabama, which doubles as a regional segment. The finals was not played due to weather but Mariana won the coin flip for the winner’s trophy!

Caroline Williams was a finalist in the girls 16’s segment in Norman, Oklahoma coming up just short in the third set of her final match. Caroline also placed fourth in the doubles event!
 
 
 
As an unseeded player, Robert Loeb placed 3rd in the boys 16 and under Southern Open in Columbus, Georgia beating some of the top ranked players in the Southern Section along the way.

Cameron Kriscunas was a finalist in doubles for the second tournament in a row (first was the Southern Closed) at the girls 16’s Southern Open in Columbus.
 
 
 
 
Both Sara McClure and Alexander Jones placed 3rd in doubles in their age groups (girls 12’s and boys 16’s) at the Southern Open in Dothan and Columbus.
 
 
 
 
Kyle Barr lost in the second round but made it all the way to the finals of the consolation draw in the boys 16’s Southern Open. The last match wasn’t played.

All of our student’s have been working so hard this summer so we are very happy to see their hard work pay off! Congratulations to everyone!
 
 
 
 
 
Next up is the USTA National Clay Court Championships and the Georgia State Junior Open.
