Ray Continues Comeback from Injury

Kaitlyn Ray continues her comeback by posting some stellar results this spring

June 22, 2009 -- Ray was out of tournament competition for over 6 months due to various injuries, and has been slowly working her way back up the rankings. She hails from Little Rock, Arkansas, but moved to the Smith Stearns Tennis Academy this January to focus on tennis by training in a better tennis environment.

In April, Ray placed in the top 8 of the singles competition at the Easter Bowl National Tournament held in Rancho Mirage, California. She also teamed up with fellow Smith Stearns student Molly O’Koniewski to reach the doubles quarterfinals of the girl’s 16 and under division.

Ray also won the girl’s 16 and under singles title at the Gator Bowl National Tournament in Ponte Vedra, Florida. She is currently ranked #49 nationally in the girl’s 16’s, but looks to drastically improve that ranking this summer after having not participated in both nationals last year due to injury. Next up for Kaitlyn will be the Southern Closed, followed by the Clay Court and Hard Court Nationals.
